Lean muscle

By Live Elated Staff on September 2nd, 2008

“I want a six pack! I’m doing 2000 crunches a day, but I’m not seeing any results!” I hear this almost every day.  A hard stomach is attractive to look at, but most importantly it is the core of your body and is so important to have a strong back and good posture.

You can do crunches every day, all day long, and still not see the six-pack effect. In order to see definition, you must be extremely lean. Lean = low body fat. You have to chisel away the outer layer. That means a lot of cardio work to burn away the body fat, and a very clean diet, as well keeping your body fat intake very, very low. You also have to do crunches to build the muscle, but the outer layer of body fat covers them up.

Whoever made up this “spot reduction” claim, needs to check their sources!  Working one specific body part day in and day out will not give you the results you are striving for. It’s overall training that will lower the amount of body fat and define your muscles. Also, building your abdominal muscles will enable you to walk taller. Strong abdominals are the key for having good posture.

You are certainly correct about the “spot reduction” claim. Overall fitnerss is definately the key and you core is extremely important. Without a strong core everything goes by the wayside….you are also asking for injuries if you don’t have a strong core. You can do crunches all day long, but a clean diet is the key to seeing those washboard abs along with a fabulous backside. You can do all the squats in the world if you are not going to clean up your eating habits then you are waisting some of your time. Fitness should be a lifestyle not a fad. DIET is a four letter word!!!!!!!!! Diets do not work and it is hard on your body….you can mess up your metabolism as well.
Remember “core is key” and clean up what goes into your body~
